VaryHue
VaryHue is a gentle diary of the foods you eat. Every food you log becomes a small drawn mark on a wheel, so you can see your day and your week at a glance.
VaryHue is coming soon to the App Store and Google Play.
The wheel shows the colours you eat.
The wheel has two ways of looking. In Colours, each wedge is a colour of fruit and vegetables: red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple, and white and tan. In Food groups, the wedges are pulses and legumes, mushrooms, fermented foods, cruciferous and allium vegetables, whole grains, and nuts and seeds. You don’t need to count anything, and nothing is ever taken away.
Logging takes a few taps.
Your recent foods are at the top, saved meals sit beside them, and you can search, speak or take a photo of your plate. A dish like lentil soup with kale is broken into its foods for you.
Fresh ideas help you mix things up.
After a couple of weeks, VaryHue learns what you usually eat and suggests easy ways to mix it up, such as a different green for your stir-fry or a yellow food when yellow has been quiet. You can add ideas to your shopping list with one tap.
Every week becomes a postcard.
Every Sunday evening your week becomes a postcard: the wheel, the number of different plants you ate, and a short note about your week. Keep them in your collection or save them as pictures.
VaryHue also has a few more things.
- A plants count, with 30 different plants a week as a fun goal
- A household mode, so you can log for your family, with a simpler wheel for children
- Seasonal ideas for Austria and Germany, and recipe ideas
- Home screen widgets and a watch complication
- Dark mode, a colour-blind mode and support for larger text
